Peter Langran
Traditional Stick-maker

the ancient craftsman

Peter is an English stickmaker based in the University city of Cambridge, England and has been making high quality walking sticks since 1992.
The sticks used are all English wood coppiced by himself and naturally air-dried for between 18 months and 2 years. The drying time for each individual shaft depends on the thickness and type of wood involved, be it Hazel, Ash, Blackthorn or Holly. He also only uses Antler from British Deer or horn from British Rams to form a stick's handle, and may also use wood, brass or resin. Examples of the different styles and materials are shown in our gallery.
To make a totally unique and personal stick Peter will carve a representation of your dog's head in wood and mount it to the top of a stick of your choice. If you require this service you will need to provide 3 photographs of the dog's head from front, side and back.
Other products which Peter is able to produce are Priests, Wading Sticks, Antler Dog Whistles, Corkscrews and Bottle Openers. He will also make repairs to an old and treasured stick if required.
